Well, the election is over. I didn't quite make it. I came in a respectable third out of a field of four. Not bad for the first time out. A HUGE THANK YOU for those who supported me and voted for me. I ended up with 14,158 votes - about 12 thousand more than I expected! :)

So, what's next? Everyone keeps telling me I should run again. I've had offers to help with the next campaign. That would be in 2010.

I'm considering it. A lot.

In the meantime, I'll figure out what to do with this stuff below and on the links later. Maybe I'll turn this site into a blog or something. Anyone have any great ideas? Leave feedback if you do!

The old stuff...

Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you're taking the time to read a bit about me and find out who I am and why I am a candidate for the school board.

My Web site is now undergoing perpetual change. Come on back, you'll find something different!

In a nutshell, I've been going to the school board meetings for the past 6 years. Initially it was about the impact of a comprehensive, full-size high school with property being taken by eminent domain. However, over time, I've come to realize there's so much more that needs to be done first. It's not "Build it and they will come".

I listen to the 'glowing' reports given at the board meetings and contrast that to the other side. We all keep hearing about how poor the school scores are, the drop out rate, the problems going on. But at the school board meetings, we only seem to get the good. That needs to change.

We need to focus on the problems and the solutions. Will building new facilities make our kids smarter and want to learn more? Will they score better on an English test because they have new walls around them? Or do we need to focus our attention elsewhere?

One of the biggest problems is the language barrier. We need to focus on English first. Once we do that, then we can work on teaching the other subjects.

A few interesting links for you:
